UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. They help countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and build resilience in order to sustain development results.

The Ask

Matchfire was hired to help the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) develop a comprehensive digital fundraising campaign in support of the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda. The campaign, referred to as the BLUEPRINT for a Better World, was UNDP’s first attempt at connecting individual donors with UNDP’s work around the globe. Aside from research and strategy; developing an engagement and media plan; a fundraising component including crowdfunding and peer-to-peer appeal options; Matchfire was responsible for the design and development of the campaign’s visual identity.

The Solution

The campaign began with deep analysis of the UNDP’s donor constituents, via use of Matchfire’s proprietary software tools. Supporting research findings, a marketing strategy was developed to achieve campaign goals along with the design and development of the campaign’s visual identity, an engagement and media plan, a fundraising component including crowdfunding and peer-to-peer appeal options, website development, and an implementation roadmap for national and country offices with specific launch tactics for the campaign.
