Junior Front-End Developer


Matchfire is looking for a junior front-end web developer with an eye for design, a passion for usability, and dedication to extensibility. Core responsibilities will include working closely with the designers and engineers to translate static designs into responsive visual elements across multiple devices and mediums. We are looking for an energetic problem solver that has a good knowledge of responsive & component based websites and common open source tools. While programming experience is a plus, we are looking for someone with knowledge and experience in HTML5, CSS/Sass frameworks who can prototype and style interfaces quickly, use a modular approach to styles, and be able to adapt and learn about new design frameworks and concepts.


  • Take design files from Sketch or Photoshop and build them as responsive pages using HTML5, Sass and jQuery where needed
  • Break out pages into unique modular components
  • Integrate with third party tools and plugins
  • Test and adjust sites across various devices and browsers
  • Maintain existing websites, and provide support as needed
  • Help troubleshoot to address and solve browser specific issues


  • 1+ years of professional site development experience
  • Experience with Sass and Sass frameworks, ideally Bourbon Neat
  • Experience with Sketch, Photoshop and ideally Invision
  • Familiarity with web standards and XHTML, CSS, JavaScript/AJAX, including libraries such as jQuery
  • Familiarity with build tools and optimizations
  • Excellent organizational & communication skills with a superb attention to detail
  • Experience with working with a CMS
  • Experience with creating HTML emails
  • Proven ability to work independently and under tight timelines
  • Passion for interactive digital marketing solutions
  • Possess a solution-centric, positive attitude
  • Prepared to provide and discuss samples of your work
